Description
Copyright 1867 "The Lost Cause: A New Southern History of the War of the Confederates." By Edward A Pollard of Virginia. This book was sold only by subscription. Pollard was the editor of 'The Examiner' during the Civil War. He comprised this book as an analysis post war. In the book Pollard was portraying the war as a contest between "two nations of opposite civilizations." The book itself is in original condition. Wear and cracking in the binding. All pages appear to be intact and are legible. There is a very nice print of Jefferson Davis in the book. The paper has yellowed some with age and there are various scuffs, dents and dings on the outside cover. Overall considering the age of this item it is in nice antique condition. Book does not have a jacket. It is 752 pages. This is a rare original printing. See photos.
