Disneyland Monorail Pilot Wings Hat Pin. Disneyland, 1959. Original Disneyland Monorail hat pin, used only in the park’s first year of operation. Length 3 ½”. Disneyland’s Monorail attraction opened in June 1959 and at the time was the first daily operating monorail in the Western Hemisphere. When manufacturing pins to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Monorail’s opening, they had to borrow a set of these wings from a private collector as none were to be found in the Disney Archives.
