Reference:
Shape #7064, p. 237 Paul V. Gardner and p. 19 of 1932 Steuben glass catalogue.
Flower block #3269, p. 7 of 1932 catalogue.
Shown p. 163 of Objects of Desire: The Art of Frederick Carder by Alan Shovers.
Pictured at P. 92, Ill. 142 in The Glass of Frederick Carder by Paul V. Gardner.
Shown at p. 19 of 1932 Steuben Glass Catalogue at a cost of $7.00.
Picture at p. 62 of Eric E. Ericsons, A Guide to Colored Steuben Glass 1903 - 1933 (Book Two). Label says "Production Type Cire Perdue B 7064" At p. 63-64, Mr. Carder indicated that his work with Cire Perdue began in the late 1920's and that certain of his cast glasses with matte finish resulted from these early explorations. When asked if these early items might be considered Cire Perdue, he replied that he supposed you might call them that. Such an example would be item No. 7064 shown herein. Certain other of his plaques could also be classified in the same manner. Thus, while it was thought earlier that this technique was not an item of Steuben production, it is now apparent that it was, although modified to meet production methods for volume operations.
