Description
DESCRIPTION: Steuben green and white lace glass (Cintra) vase (10 pillars) with colorless foot, c. 1930.
Shape 7169, p. 290 Paul V. Gardner.
Cased lead glass; cased with clear glass on the inside, no crystal on the outside. Outside is a soft, matte finish with every bubble and uneven glass surface easily felt.
FDL stamped factory signature on bottom.

At p. 72 of The Glass of Frederick Carder by Paul V. Gardner, the author states in a section of Cintra, A variation of the striped technique called Lace glass was made about 1930. These pieces were usually somewhat thinner than Cintra pieces made in a cased crystal glass, and contained more bubbles. Specimens of the short-lived lace glass are extremely rare. About sixteen shapes were made, usually with blue and white, pink and white, or black and white stripings. (See catalog numbers 7159-60, 7164-70, 7193-94, 7196-98).

Acquired 10/16/01 from dealer Neil Kohut of Las Vegas, NV
Seller Neil Kohut reports that he has had the piece since 1978.. He acquired it from Frank and Amy Blake of Corning, NY. Frank Blake was the production manager at Steuben and this piece was part of his personal collection.
