Antique Glastonbury chair, crafted from wood, possibly oak. Legs joined by horizontal stretchers, X shaped legs. Recessed quadrifoil form detailing carved into chair back. Quadrifoil detailing carved into stretcher. Wear is consistent with age and use, evident surface wear. Measures approx 35 inches h, 23 inches w, 23 inches deep. The Glastonbury chair was known to exist since the Early Middle Ages, but seems to have disappeared from use in part of the Later Middle Ages; it re-emerged in use in Italy by the fifteenth century AD.(Info from wiki).
