***Auction Highlight*** 1884-s Morgan Dollar $1 Graded BU+ By USCG. This is an attractive and desirable Uncirculated specimen of an eagerly sought Morgan dollar. Virtually untoned with semi proof like surfaces on the obverse and frosty luster on the reverse. It is boldly to sharply struck throughout, although some weakness at the centers still is present. A very attractive appearance for the assigned grade. The 1884-S is one of the most famous condition rarities in the Morgan dollar series. Though 3.2 million pieces were struck -- a generous total for the type -- the vast majority were spent and spent again in local commerce, and today the typical grade may be EF or AU, with many survivors well below those grades. The scarcity and value of this issue increases exponentially in Mint State, where it becomes a significant challenge for advanced Morgan specialists. Clearly the present offering represents an important opportunity in today's market.
