Biography: 1914 - 1997. A leader of contemporary Impressionists, Max Agostini was born in Paris in 1914 of Corsican origin by his grandparents. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and discovered a real talent for Impressionism. Drafted into the French army for five years at the beginning of World War II, Agostini was made prisoner for three years. During the postwar period, he was noticed for his quality excellent portraits and landscape in Chateauroux, where he worked for several years. Later he moved to Gargilesse in Berry and Provence. He died in January 1997, he even painted his most beautiful paintings a few days before his hospitalization. Recognized worldwide as one of the greatest colorists of his time, many openings in Paris in his presence allowed his fans to know the man as much as his painting.
