HAND-COLORED ETCHING "NEW YORK, FROM GOVERNORS ISLAND"
After William Guy Wall (America, 1792- c. 1864). Engraved by John Hill (America, 1770-1850). Published by Henry I. Megarey, circa 1815. Depicts a view of New York City from Governors Island, with a soldier patrolling outside a fortification, a sailboat and sailing ship in the harbor, and the city in the background.
On paper, 15.5" x 22" sight. Framed 20.25" x 26.75".

Condition
Trimmed. Several small tears at edges, creases in the water on the left side, and in the sky center. Light staining and foxing, mostly in the sky on the right.
