This is a diner drawing on a Cracker box by Lewis Smith titled "Bridge Street Grill". As with all of his diner pieces, it is well worth spending a little time on reading what he has wrtitten and looking closely at his illustrations. Some of his writings include "Let Us String Bean You". "Slaw. By. Maw. 12¢". This piece is about 10" by 17". There is one faint stain along one edge.

Lewis was a reclusive outsider artist. He lived most of his life in the woods of Ohio, alone after the death of his mother. He passed away in 1998. His drawing, writing, and painting on recycled paper, cardboard, and the walls of his house and buildings reflects his preoccupation with muscular women boxers and wrestlers, trains, time, and money. Crackers were a big part of his diet, and he then recycled the boxes into art. His work is included in museums and folk art art collections throughout the world. They have been in several major folk and outsider art shows. His pieces are prized as Art Brut in Europe.
