Chinese carved Jade vase adorned with a Dragon and Leopard motif. Geometric cavity drifts upward into a vast neck eventually meeting the elliptic lid and rounded finial. Flanking each side is a Dragon and leopard grasping the bottom of the vase and gazing toward each other as if ready to attack. Dragon Long is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fertility, and has many other attributes. The Leopard is one of the four Animals of Supremacy and Energy. It represents courageousness, martial fierceness. Emblem of Military official 3rd Grade. Decorative Scrolling designs adorn both sides of the neck portion. Intricately incised designs wrap around this piece to create a precise beauty. Nephrite has mottled appearance with scattered inclusions along with a beautiful transparent chalk-white tone.
