Radiant Smoothly carved Chinese nephrite jade lidded censer. The jade is formed into a bowl and completed with a domed lid, open carved round finial, ornate finial and, and archaic pattern shoulder pieces. Symmetrically congruent archaic patterns on the center belly from upper neck down to lower belly. The nephrite is white in color, with a moist appearance. Archaistic patterns ensconce the midsection of the vessel. These geometric patterns create a taotie-mask design. The taotie mask can resemble protection or be a representation of the forces of nature. It has served as a warning against greediness, gluttony, sensuality, self-indulgence in Chinese culture. This is a beautiful Chinese censer, that easily allures the eye. The Nephrite Jade has a lustrous tone, with pale-celadon iridescent and attractive sporadic golden russet inclusions, exquisite and detail, the jade stone have clean tone, with pale-celadon iridescent and moist milky appearance.
