Description
DESCRIPTION: A japanese "Selflessness Child" okimono figure, based on the painting "Muga Doji" by Yokoyama Taikan. This is a metal sculpture after the original mold by Kome Jiichi of a boy. This sculpture from the Japanese Showa period (1926-1989) is designed with the boy holding a sailing boat on his right hand and sits on a circular carved wood base. Kome Jiichi (1896-1985) was a mold craftsman from the biggest copperware producing town in Japan. He made more than 2000 bronze statues in his lifetime.
CIRCA: 20th Century.
ORIGIN: Japan.
