Provenance: A Fort Worth, Texas collection
A painter of realistic landscapes reflecting a vanishing wilderness in America, Wood traveled extensively all over the United States, especially in the West, California and Colorado, often in freight cars, and also painted in Mexico and Canada. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, he lived in San Antonio, Texas. He gained a national reputation for his strong colored, dramatic paintings. Wood also gave art lessons, and one of his students was Porfirio Salinas.
