Thunder Bay District "Cinnamon" Gem Formation Amethyst 16 x 15 x 11 inches (40.6 x 38.1 x 27.9 cm) Growth of the mineral Hematite on the faces of Amethyst crystals results in quite coveted "Cinnamon" Amethyst, which hails exclusively from Thunder Bay, Ontario in Canada. This massive example displays small, sharp points with the red overcoating of purple resulting in the unique color. The chunky, blocky specimen has a lot of spiky crystals over the colorful surface and is a larger, exotic, and decorative rock. The uniqueness of this variety of Quartz which also happens to be the birthstone of February is obvious with the color, shape, and, form combining to result in a natural work of art with high decorative appeal.
