1960s ScubaPro Strale Mordem Speargun Pistol

Description

This is a somewhat unusual Mordem STRALE model speargun. Made in Milan Italy, it is a product of the late 1960s. It was distributed in the US by ScubaPro. It looks like a pneumatic model but is actually a hydropneumatics. It utilizes a variable volume rubber bladder inside the chrome plated air tank. The tank is designed to contain air pressure and provides a moveable part that is pushed back as the spear forces water into the air chamber as it is inserted. This creates the hydropneumatics operation. Note the O rings at the base of the spear shaft. This speargun is completed with it spear, line and air pump. This is an interesting and elusive model! Will be accompanied by an original 1969 ScubaPro catalog, which features this model on page 10.
