Philip Evergood, One of His Best PaintingsA very fine, oversized pastel on paper, an early one, likely pre-war.Here, a museum grade painting. This and a smaller one are not dated, a third that came with these, many years ago, having been purchased from an heir, is dated, as best I recall, ..that one, I can't find yet but will offer it later. These paintings were never sold and from his estate, this particular one is about his very best, in my opinion. Both these seem based on either ancient Greek literature or biblical scenes. Great fresh condition, oversized, it is painted on two sheets, the artist successfully has attached them together. a tiny minor break in paper on each side, about 1/2 " ..no effect on the image.
