Description
Northern European Embroidered Wool Panel Depicting a Biblical Scene, 17th century. Likely depicting the Queen of Sheba before King Solomon; mounted to cotton-wrapped board for display. Provenance: Acquired in London, 1980s; Private Collection of a Textile and Carpet Collector, Philadelphia, PA.Condition: Overall condition appropriate for age and use. Professionally conserved and mounted to a cotton-wrapped board. Fraying to edges. Some small holes including two below central standing figure's feet, approximately six to drapery on right side of panel. Panel with some fraying threads. Additional condition photographs may be requested. Size: 18'' x 20'', 46 x 51 cm (embroidery); 22'' x 26'', 56 x 66 cm (board).
