Alfred L. Bright, (American, 1940 -2019), aka Al Bright, was a well-known Mahoning Valley artist, advocate and educator.
Al was an art/painting professor at Youngstown State University, where he was a student and later taught in the Black Studies Department he founded. He was the first African-American full service faculty member at YSU, where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Art Education, Masters Degree in Painting from Kent State University and was a three-time recipient of YSU's Distinguished Professorship Award.
His artwork is featured in private and public collections both nationally and internationally.
