Guy Overfelt uses a heavily-modified 1977 Smokey-and-the-Bandit Trans AM to produce action works on paper and linen that he calls Burnouts. These satires of hyper-masculinity are created through burning out, spinning the rear tires, and having an assistant feed the paper through the spinning tire and road as though it were a printing machine. The resulting image is determined by the road surface, tire tread, paper endurance and kinetic action, with the lurking omnipresence of catastrophic mechanical failure.
