Description: A beautiful and crisp etching by Pierre Auguste Renoir, one of the leading artists in the impressionist movement. This etching, called Le Chapeau Epingle and translated to Pinning the Hat, was a preliminary or preparatory etching for one of Renoir’s most famous lithograph prints of the same name. The print shows Berthe Morisot's daughter, Julie, pinning flowers on her cousin Paulette's broad-brimmed hat (REF MoMA).
Signed: Signed lower left corner of print.
Circa: 1897
Dimensions: Plate size 4.5x3 inches. Folio is 14x12.25 inches.
Condition: No creases, waves, foxing, tears, etc. in paper. The impression of the plate is incredible and very dark!
