Friedrich Gornik (1877 - 1943) – bronze sculpture "Fighting Boars"Bronze with brownish patina. Dynamic scene, a massive boar hurling a rival to the ground. The base signed on the side "F. Gornik", foundry mark "AR". Dimensions ca. 36 x 29 x 22 cm.Friedrich Gornik, Austrian sculptor, studied 1897-1905 at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts and specialised early on large animal sculptures. Kaiser Franz Joseph I purchased from him the "Troika", a group of horses, for his imperial mansion in Bad Ischl. 1916 Gornik is appointed to the art group of the Royal-Imperial War Press Headquarters and makes soldier and animal sculptures such as the Bosnian Pack Animal Column or Attacking Dragoon on Horseback (both in the Heeresgeschichtliche Museum in Vienna).Condition: I - II
