Description
A pair of Art Deco bronze medals by Jean Vernon (French Impressionist and Modern artist). The first, Deux Pigeons, S'Aiment D'Amour, Tendre (Two Pigeons, Love, Tender). The second, Le Heron, depicting cranes and fish. Both from the series, Fables de la Fontain, commemorate the work of Jean de La Fontaine (French fabulist, 1621-1695), who wrote his own versions of Aesop's fables. Each marked with the artist's name and titles of the artworks, on the front, and Bronze on the sides. Presented in special round red cases. Circa 1940s.
