An important 48" X 15" Girandole timepiece by Waltham with an unusual added thermometer in the throat. This example, serial #1 via stamping on the case, is possibly the first of what was probably less than 50 examples made. The highest number we know of is numbered #21. Historically collectors have paid the highest prices for the 20th century Waltham clocks because of their high quality and extreme rarity. The condition of the clock and the case is excellent throughout. The provenance is that the clock was in the collection of Bill Mather of Randolph, Vermont, selling at Auction several years ago and now from a private collector in the Mid West.
