Description
Vase. China, 19th century.Porcelain. With wooden base. With Pseudo-stamp.Measurements: 72 (height) x 28 cm (diameter). The piece presents slender forms formed, in the first place, by a circular base on which rises the central body, of globular profile, which is accompanied by a slender neck of great height. The piece culminates with a lid with a circular base, whose diameter is larger than the rest of the piece. This derives in an upper body on which rises a small molding that acts as a handle and is in the shape of a lion.In general terms, this elegant piece has been enameled in a delicate white tone, and is decorated with a "craquelé" effect, which simulates the cracking of the enamel surface. This is accompanied by the representation of motifs in cobalt blue representing dragons and flowers, which give the composition a completely orientalist aesthetic. Dragons are one of the most recurrent representations in Chinese culture, because they are considered a mythological animal, being the personification of the concept of yang and a legendary symbol of the country's culture.
