Saryk torba, Turkmenistan, third quarter 19th century.One of the few Saryk pieces in the Marsh Collection, this elegant torba has a classic textbook border around a deep red field of 20 archetypal guls with spiky secondary chemche ornaments of a subtle tone that allow them to visually recede into the background.Size: 4'6'' x 1'5'' (137 x 43 cm). Weight: 3 lbs. Material: wool pile, wool warp, wool weft.
