Description
Northern Europe, Great Britain, Roman Britain, ca. 43 to 410 CE; England and Germany, ca. 15th century CE. An impressive gathering of Roman jewelry comprised of a tin copper alloy brooch from Roman Britain, a brass brooch from Medieval England, and a silver ring from Medieval Germany. First, the tin copper alloy brooch presents a circular form with several spigots protruding outwards from the periphery. The center is decorated with an abstract geometric motif of cobalt and crimson enamel. Next, the Medieval English brooch displays an openwork circular form, a castellated periphery and 8 incised dots between 8 risen bezels of blue, maroon, and black modern wax. Last, the silver ring boasts a brilliant ovoid inlay of tangerine-hued garnet, now known as spessartine (named for Spessart, Germany, where the mineral was first discovered), flanked by 4 risen bands embellished with incised vertical striations. Size (of largest): 1.125" in diameter (2.9 cm); Silver quality: 81%; Weight of ring: 4.3 grams; Ring size: 7.75

Condition
Rings are wearable, brooches are not. All pieces are ancient, but bezels in larger brooch are modern wax. All have expected nicks and abrasions commensurate with age and wear. Otherwise, all are very nice with lovely patina.
