Description
A LOUIS XV STYLE PARCEL GILT AND PAINTED TRUMEAU MIRROR, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the tall rectangular "antiqued" off white painted panel enclosing a Boucher style allegorical painting of the maid of Pharaoh's daughter discovering the infant Moses floating in a reed basket on the banks of the Nile, painted in teal grisaille oils on canvas and enclosed by a nicely carved and gilt undulating molded frame entwined with leafy fruiting grapevines, surmounted by a pierced "C" scrolled cartouche enclosing a stylized feather diadem, set above a lower similarly carved horizontal framed mirror with cartouche bordering swirling acanthus over a cabochon rocaille pendant. Height: 6' 10 5/8" Width: 52" Provenance: Private Collection, Pearland, Texas.
Condition
