Description
A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE ORMOLU FIVE-LIGHT CANDELABRA, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY, each with tripartite scrolling brackets enclosing a long twist-reeded stem, partitioned by a stiff leaf modeled cap suspending leafy swags and continuing to a beaded ring topped by an acanthus detailed cap, hung with fluted branches issuing from scrolling leafy floral stems and ending with foliate trimmed drip pans, beneath vasiform nozzles detailed with beaded strands and mounted with similarly cast bobéches, surrounding two stacked vases fitted with a removable flame finial, raised on a leaf tip trimmed circular plinth above a guilloche frieze divided by block florets on tapering rectangular feet. Height: 26" Diameter: 12" Provenance: From the Estate of James Hayden, Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Condition
Good condition with expected surface buildup, one branch repaired, some arms slightly loose and need straightening, overall these are nicely cast elegant candelabras with lovely buttery matt and burnished gilding.? ?
