Description
A LARGE FRENCH PROVINCIAL CARVED CHERRY ARMOIRE, CIRCA 1800, the shaped rectangular molded cornice with eared canted corners above a plain frieze and canted corner carved guttae over long fluted panels, flanking paired doors with molded arch rectangular recessed panels above two rectangular panels and each inlaid faces with dramatically grained cherry, both mounted with long circular steel hinges and reticulated cut steel escutcheons centering a conforming fluted panel, opening to a central two drawer shelf and another single adjustable shelf, over an exterior undulating apron and raised on short scrolling cabriole legs. Height: 7' 11" Width: 5' 11" Depth: 28 1/2" Provenance: Private Collection, Pearland, Texas.
Condition
Good restored condition with expected surface scuff marks, light scratches, dings, age shrinkage cracks, normal slight warping of some panels, a few old repairs, restorations, sturdy frame, overall good shape.
