Description
A LOUIS XV STYLE FAUX MARBLE TOPPED AND PAINTED WOOD CONSOLE, POSSIBLY GERMAN/ITALIAN, CIRCA 1880s, the serpentine demi-lune top inset with a later?faux verde antico painted wood panel, enclosed by a stepped molding border over nicely detailed conforming pierced sides of tightly carved leafy rocaille scrolls, alternating curling acanthus cartouches centering tapering floral blooms over cabriole legs ending in foliate topped coiled feet on tapering circular flower bloom modeled bases and joined by a similarly sculpted reticulated stretcher pendant. Height: 33 3/4" Width: 41 1/2" Depth: 17"? ? Provenance: Private Collection, Pearland, Texas.
Condition
Good condition with later grayish white "antiqued" worn, crackled, and flaking paint revealing areas of old gilding underneath, normal age shrinkage cracks, small chips, dings, old repairs, and expected surface buildup in crevices throughout.
