Description
A Chinese ink stone and a pair of scroll paper weights dating from the modern period. The ink stone is elaborately carved on one side with a deep relief scene of a pagoda and a bridge over a river. The scene and the ink preparation area are bordered by leaves, ruyi clouds, waves, and geometric swirls. The reverse side of the ink stone has an inscription. The ink stone has simple wooden covers, and it comes with a box. The wood scroll weights are carved in the shape of bamboo with grasshoppers, and each features an incised seal and signature on one side.

Dimensions are: the ink stone with covers measures 8 1/2 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide, 21.6 cm X 14 cm, while the scroll weights measure 10 1/8 inches tall X 2 3/4 inches wide, 25.7 cm X 7 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: One wooden ink stone cover has some cracking, and the other has an area of loss. The ink stone has general use wear, including dents, wear, and scratches. There are minor dents to the bottom edge of one scroll weight, but the other has no noted damage.
