Description
Sadao Watanabe (Japan, 1913 - 1996). The artist most famous for incorporating Christian biblical themes into his woodblock prints. Themes of these framed prints are 'Siege of Jerico' and an unknown theme.
Dimensions are: Jerico: Frame size: 24 1/4 inches tall X 30 1/4 inches wide; 61.59 cm tall X 76.83 cm wide. Sight area: 22 1/4 inches tall X 28 1/8 inches wide; 56.51 cm tall X 71.43 cm wide. Unknown theme: Frame size: 32 3/4 inches tall X 28 1/4 wide; 83.18 cm tall X 71.75 cm wide. Sight area: 23 5/8 inches tall X 19 3/4 inches wide; 60 cm tall X 50.16 cm wide.
Condition: Some frame damage from use.
Provenance: From a private Maryland collection, acquired in Japan during the 1970s.
