South America, Brazil, Amazon region, ca. 1940s to 1950s. A hand-carved wooden blowgun dart quiver of a generally tubular form that narrows at the midline, accompanied by six slender darts perhaps made from bamboo splinters or wood. Blowguns were projectile weapons that were usually used for hunting rather than warfare. To be most effective, the tips of the darts were traditionally dipped in poison made from poisonous secretions from animals or plants. Size: quiver measures 2.5" diameter at the rim x 7.875" H (6.4 cm x 20 cm); darts are about 10" L (25.4 cm) or 11" L (27.9 cm)
