Description
VERY FINE AND RARE PAIR OF SHOVELERS by Bob White, Tullytown, PA. Excellent original paint and condition. Hollow construction. Both snug-head models with drake's head resting on breast and turned right. Drake with fine painted feather detail to back and speculums. Very fine comb painting to sides. Hen with very fine painted feather work to bill, back and speculums. Exceptionally fine paint ticking to head and shoulders. Pronounced ticking to breast, sides and bottom. Detailed painting to bill. Both with detailed bill carving including carved nails and nostrils. Underside of both bills with cup- carving. Both retain glass eyes. Both with raised carved wing tips and cupped fluted tails. Both with painted feather work to undersides of tails. Both retain triangular quail weights and rigging thongs. Overall length of hen is approximately 14 1/2 inches. Both signed by maker and dated 1997. A rare and outstanding pair by this carver. 1800-2500
