Description
FINE PAIR OF BLUEBILLS by the Evans Decoy Factory, Ladysmith, WI, circa 1920-30. Hollow Mammoth models that retain strong original paint with some in-use wear. Very good structural condition. Both with tight hairline checks to bills. Hen with typical factory wedge inserted to crack in back. (See North American Factory Decoys, K. Trayer, page 137). Drake with very strong speculum paint. Detailed bill carving to both. Both retain original glass eyes. Both retain EVANS DECOY stamp on bottoms. Overall length approximately 16 inches. Both with weights removed. For additional information see "Mason Decoys" by R. Goldberger and A. Haid, pages 132-133. Also, "North American Factory Decoys" by K. Trayer, pages 135-138. An outstanding early pair from the Evans factory. 1800-2200
