292 numbered stamped ruled pages, the first 69 of which have writing in holograph (with occasional blanks), the remainder of the pages are blank. 26x20 cm (10x8"), period half calf and pebbled cloth, gilt-ruled spine.
Manuscript volume with the bookplate of "Chas. P. Warren, Sacramento, Cal." on the front pastedown. The first 10 pages or so are filled with recipes for medicinal remedies, and other random entries, including "mother's dream," political quotations, book titles, "beautiful thoughts," etc. Many later pages are labeled "Office Memoranda" and list details of meetings, employee hiring and firings, etc. Other general subjects are scattered throughout - fishing, guns, a picnic to Big Trees, etc. The author notes he moves to Alameda in 1883.
