Description
English glazed blue transferware porcelain tea service includes three individual pieces, which feature the "Landing of Gen. Lafayette at Castle Garden, New York; 12 August, 1824". Comes with small dish and two sugar bowls, smaller bowl without lid, and lid to larger piece is included but broken into four fragments. Manufactured by James and Ralph Clews after a print by Samuel Maverick, circa 1825-30. Dish (approx. 5.5" diameter by 1.125" height) has small hairline crack and repair to under side. Sugar vessels both with small chips, mostly to inner resting rim, some surface scuffing. Larger vessel approx. 5.5" wide, 4" deep, by 4.75" height; smaller approx. 5" wide, 3.75" deep, by 4.75" height.
