Contains text and an engraving of a youth on a very early “Propeller” lever driven three wheeled velocipede tricycle with a figural horse head at the front. Steering was activated by the feet at the front axle. Propulsion from the levers to the rear shaft. Soft cover 4-3/8" x 2-3/4". 16 pages with three illustrations. Stitched binding. (e.g.: "All the city boys know what I mean; but some of my readers who live in the country may need to be informed that a velocipede is a little wooden horse, something like a rocking horse; but instead of rockers, the velocipede has wheels; and, by turning a crank, a little boy who sits upon the horse can wheel himself along the smooth sidewalk at quite a rapid rate.")
