George III-Style Mahogany Breakfront Secretary

mid-20th century, the upper section with four astragal-glazed doors, the base with a butler's desk in the center drawer, flanked by drawers to each side and fitted with four raised panel cabinet doors below.

In very good "as found" condition. The case is tight and solid with no movement observed in the joints of the lower section. The surface exhibits normal mars, abrasions, scrapes and wear consistent with use, including wear to the finish of the edge molding at the top of the lower case. It could stand an overall cleaning. All doors and drawers open and close freely. Retains all functional locks and corresponding keys. The base interiors are each fitted with a shelf. The interior back is the back panel with a dark stain. The tooled leather writing surface in the interior of the desk exhibits rubbing, but is in overall good condition with no rips or tears. The banded veneer on the perimeter of the lower cupboard doors exhibits some lifting/buckling at its seams. There are no losses at those points.
