Description

Cast Bronze Two-Tier Fountain in the Neoclassical Taste

20th century, the lobed main bowl supported by a standard molded with aquatic plants and three putti, the upper tier supported by a standing putto clad in aquatic plants.
h. 106", dia. 42-1/4"

Provenance: The Anne Rice/Nicolas Cage Garden District Mansion, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Condition

In very good "as found" condition. The elements are all securely joined. No cracks in the bowls or breaks or losses observed. There are some scattered small holes in the figural castings. No holes observed in the bowls. Oxidation and corrosion from use. Some built-up residue, presumably calcium. The unit appears to be of one-piece construction. If the lower bowl is separate from the base, it is now securely affixed and the seam not readily discernible. Pump and plumbing not present.
