Description
Chromogenic print, 2002, signed, dated and numbered 3/20 on the reverse.
10 x 8 in. (sheet), unframed.
Note: Pfeiffer's ongoing series of photographs titled Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse began with publicity stills of Marylin Monroe that he copied from archives and then manipulated to erase, or 'camouflage', the figure. Pfeiffer used the same technique with photos from the archives of the NBA, selectively appropriating images and manipulating them to remove the contextual detail so that what is left this time is only the figure. The title of the series refers back to the woodcuts of Abrecht Durer who, says Pfeiffer, was an innovator in the representation of the figure.
