Description

Set of Six Portuguese Rococo Hardwood Side Chairs
Mid-18th century
Each with flowerhead-carved toprail above an interlaced back and drop-in seat, raised on cabriole legs ending in claw-and-ball feet. Height 39 1/2 inches (100.2 cm), width 23 1/2 inches (59.7 cm), depth 16 inches (40.7 cm).

Condition

Losses and replacements throughout, poor condition, one with backrest broken at joints of stiles, one lacking central carved element to apron, two central elements loose but present, repaired breaks throughout, breaks to front legs of one, old marks and scratches, scuffs to legs and feet.
