Scandinavian Carved Walnut Tray
18th/19th Century
Of shallow rectangular form, decorated with symmetrical designs of birds, animals and double-headed eagles, in low relief. Length 34 1/2 inches, width 20 1/2 inches.

Condition
scattered age cracks; triangular shaped loss to one side rim edge; rim chips, consistent with age, usage and handling; some warping; some areas with wear or rubbing to patina (now having a greater orange coloration rather than dark brown); old nail holes visible on the reverse side; there are currently two screw nails and a wire for hanging on the reverse side; the front side is clearly not painted, however, the reverse side appears to have a red colored wash
