DESCRIPTION: Collection of 116 pcs of Japanese Hina dolls, furniture, tea sets, and accessories brought back from Japan after World War II service. Includes Emperor and Empress Hina Dolls with servants and ladies in waiting; thirteen dolls total. Beige tea set with Kizan mark to bottom. Also includes miniature furniture, thirteen miniature clay figures, three porcelain bells, blue miniature tea set, and set of four full size tea set with floral pattern. Please see photos for all included items. PROVENANCE: Gifted to the consignor by her father Dr. Tilman Foust who served in Tokyo, Japan in World War II beginning in 1945. Per family history, the dolls and ceramics were hidden in caves by the locals to keep them safe from the American bombing campaigns. Dr. Foust purchased these items from locals that he befriended and sent them home as a gift to his young daughter. MEASUREMENTS: Dolls 3-1/2 " to 12 " tall; blue tea set 1 " to 3-1/2" high; tan tea set 1-3/4 " to 6-1/2 " high. CONDITION: Tallest doll with detached leg.
