1735 John Brine's "The Believer's Triumph Over Death"
1735-Dated Printed Sermon, "The Believer's Triumph Over Death," by John Brine, Printed for Aaron Ward at the King's Arms in Little Britain, London, Choice Extremely Fine.
This extremely rate printed sermon from the early 18th Century is by Reformed Baptist Minister John Brine. Titled "The Believer's Triumph Over Death, Considered in a Sermon "Occasion'd by the Decease of Mr. Hugh Lloyd, who Departed this Life Feb. 11, 1735." On 1 Corinthians 15:55-57. Works by John Brine (1703-1765) are considered exceptionally rare in their original editions. Brine was born in the same town as eminent Baptist John Gill. They were lifelong friend and shared both a robustly Calvinistic view of Soteriology and of course a belief in baptism. Together, they founded the church that would ultimately be taken over by Andrew Fuller. This handsome example is crisp and clean. Imprint has 37 pages, measures 5" x 8" is disbound, no wraps, with its cover sheet and last page with some separation at the spine, otherwise boldly printed, clean, bright and solid with excellent eye appeal.
