Arts and Crafts style etching of masted sailing ship at sea, on cream colored paper, signed in pencil along right margin, print size 8 in. diameter, frame size 17 in. x 21 in. Condition very good.
Harold Haven Brown lived and worked in Chicago, IL and Provincetown, MA .Between 1914 – 1921, he was director and taught at the Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, IN where fellow master printmaker Gustave Bauman was also employed at the time. He is noted as a painter, illustrator and woodblock printer. He studied art at the Massachusetts Normal Art School as well as in France at the Ecole des Beau-Arts and the Academie Julian.
