Description
A Group of 1950s Comiskey Park Chicago White Sox Signed Type One Photographs and Ephemera Including Nellie Fox Signed Photograph,
comprising of 23 original Type One photographs sourced directly from the front office with nine signed photos in light ink including Nellie Fox and Minnie Minoso among others; an 11th Annual Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame Dinner inscribed "Minnie Minoso #9" in red Sharpie; and a letter on Chicago White Sox American League Baseball Club, Comiskey Park envelope and letterhead dated January 22, 1954 from White Sox General Manager Frank Lane addressed:
Mr. Larry Meyer
5450 Cornell Avenue
Chicago 15, Illinois
Dear Mr. Meyer:
Yours December 25th.
I can only advise you that we did not get Byrd from the Athletics even though we offered more for Byrd than the Yankees actually gave for Byrd and Robinson, which is a mystery that other baseball people can't understand.
The Yankees did a good job of selling the Athletics on the skill of certain Minor League Players, even though we offered $150,000.00 cash and players for Byrd, which was a (sic) much as the Athletics received for Byrd and Robinson.
There is no understanding sometimes about these deals.
All good wishes,
Sincerely,
Frank C. Lane
