Description

Russian Lacquer Box: Glorious Winter Scene, Artfully Distressed to Appear as Antique. Excellent Russian lacquer box that while painted in the early 90s, intentionally distressed to appear quite old. The superior decoupage image of a winter scene with townspeople enjoying a playful procession of horse drawn sleds and families ice skating, the box is very heavily varnished and lacquered giving the image a heavily toned quality, and the lacquer having extensive crazing, a technique in adjusting certain ingredients in the lacquer. Together with rubs in finish, this piece very much appears to be far older than it actually is. Very different approach and quite appealing. 1¾ x 7 x 7".
