Masudaya Modern ToysSpace Patrol Tin TV Rocket w "Big Head" You are bidding on the vintage Space Patrol tin rocket spaceship, made in Japan in 1970 by Masudaya (MT Modern Toys trademark). Space Patrol is battery operated, 11" long (28cm), made of mostly tin, with plastic base and support parts. The tin upper body of the spacecraft is beautifully lithographed in metallic blue with red trim. "Space Patrol" is on both sides of the spaceship, with number 7 decorating each side of the rear fin. An astronaut pilots the ship while operating a dual lens TV camera. What makes this toy most interesting and unique is the astronaut-pilot's vinyl head, which is HUGE! It is not exactly realistic, more like a bizarre looking approximation of humanity. T were only a few Japanese space toys made of this "Big Head" genre in the late 60s to early 70s. The hard-to-find Space Patrol from Masudaya is a valuable addition for any space tin toy collection.
