NENJIRO INAGAKI (1902-1963) was born in Kyoto, and graduated from the Kyoto Municipal Fine Art School in 1922. During his career as a print artist he received a number of special prizes at Bunten in 1941, 1943 and 1946, was appointed a member of Nitten jury in 1959, and made a professor at the Kyoto Municipal University of Fine Art in 1962. Mikumo was designated as a 'Living National Treasure' as an important intangible cultural asset in 1962. His work is on permanent display at the Tokyo National Museum, The New York Museum of Modern Art and at Museums in Chicago and Los Angeles.
